New Bedford-Lucy (Mello) Branco age 91 years died Monday February 22, 2010, at St. Luke’s Hospital. Lucy was the wife of the late Frank M. Branco. She was the mother of Connie, wife of Donald Kabala of Dartmouth MA., Natalie A. wife of Victor Gonsalves of Fairhaven MA., and the late Edie F Kabala. Lucy was the sister of Maria do Carmo Mello of New Bedford. She is survived by her son in law Leonard Kabala of Salem NH, also 8 grandchildren and 11 great- grandchildren and also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Branco was a daughter of the late Maria de Jesus (Borges) and Manuel Mello. She was born in New Bedford and lived in this area most of her life. Lucy was employed as a stitcher until her retirement.
Mrs. Branco Funeral will be Friday, at 9:45 A.M at Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary’s Church S.. Dartmouth, at 11 A.M. Burial will follow at South Dartmouth Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Thursday from 5 - 8 P.M.
