Donald E. Morin, 79, of Andover, died Saturday morning, February 20, 2010, at his home. He was the beloved husband of Irene (Brenton) Morin, with whom he shared 39 wonderful years of marriage.
Donald was born in Methuen on November 21, 1930, the son of the late Daniel N. and Frances (Cowperthwaite) Morin. He was a graduate of Punchard High School in Andover. Mr. Morin served in the United States Air Force, entering at Boston, on February 26, 1952 and receiving his honorable discharge from Hanscom Field on February 25, 1956. While serving in the military, Mr. Morin worked as a Radar Intercepter Operator and had been stationed in Elmendorf Air Force Base. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal for his exemplary service. He was an active member of the “Mobilaires”, a 3rd radio squadron’s choral group. In civilian life, Donald worked as a manager for Raytheon Corporation Precision Inspection Department until his retirement. He was a member of the American Legion in Andover and was an active member of the Raytheon Golf League and loved to play 45’s.
He is survived by his beloved wife Irene, his son Michael and his wife Janyce (Shugrue) Morin of Dracut, grandchildren, Denis M. Brenton of Dracut, David M. and his wife, Stephanie (Morse) Brenton of Londonderry, New Hampshire, Jared M. Brenton of Nashua, New Hampshire and Carolyn M. Brenton of Dracut. He also leaves his sister-in-law, Claire Morin of Andover, Brother-in-law, Paul Monette of Philadelphia and many nieces, nephews, close friends and neighbors. Donald was also the grandfather of the late Kevin M. Brenton and brother of the late Daniel Morin, Grace Harrison and Jackie Monette.
Calling hours will be held in the Burke-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 390 North Main Street, Andover, on Tuesday, February 23, 2010, from 4 to 8 PM. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Augustin Church, 43 Essex Street, Andover, Wednesday, February 24, 2010, at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are most welcome to attend.
