Elder Henri L. Daniel. 65, of Sumner, Georgia, died Monday, February 22, 2010, at Tift Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M., Wednesday, February 24 at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Lee Chambers, Elder John Shelton Mikell, Rev. Rex Johnson and Elder Jimmy Chapman officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be held 7-9 Tuesday evening at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Elder Daniel was born January 30, 1945 in Ocilla to the late James R. and Polly Van Fletcher Daniel. He graduated in 1963 from Gordon Military College and continued his post-graduate studies there. Elder Daniel was a former truck driver for Wal-Mart and a former agent for Interstate Life Insurance Company. He was a minister of the gospel, having served as pastor at Frank Primitive Baptist Church, Fitzgerald Primitive Baptist Church, Brushy Creek Primitive Baptist Church and currently at Ephesus Primitive Baptist Church in Sumner. He served as supply minister for congregations in Ben Hill and Irwin counties as well as numerous congregations throughout South Georgia. Elder Daniel was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He was a former member of the Fitzgerald Jaycees and a member of the Ocilla Lodge # 134 F.&A.M.
He is survived by his wife: Carolyn Fussell Daniel of Sumner; son and daughter-in-law: Hank & Libby Daniel of Winston-Salem, NC; grandchildren: Zack Daniel and Kallie Daniel, both of Winston-Salem, NC; sister and brother-in-law: Jane & Jack Stuart of Fitzgerald as well as several nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother.
