Obituary

Bernard D. Ruane, 71, a longtime resident of Raynham, died Monday, February 22, 2010 at the Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton after a period of failing health. He was the husband of Kathryn E. (Richard) Ruane. Born in Norwood, he was raised in Stoughton. Mr. Ruane attended Mary’s School in Stoughton, Coyle High School in Taunton and Stonehill College. He was the owner of A. L. Williams Insurance in Taunton for several years. Prior to that, he worked as a Salesman for Pepsi in East Providence, RI for over 15 years. Later, he worked as the Manager of the Tedeschi’s Market in Raynham until his retirement in 2002. He was a former member of the Knights of Columbus in Canton. Known as a prankster and practical joker, he enjoyed golfing and bowling and spending time with his family and grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Terry A. Carlson and her husband Gary J. of Halifax and Susanne M. Ruane of Raynham. He was the brother of Joanne Payson of ME and Patricia MacKenzie of Raynham. He was the Beloved Bumpa of Nicole Carlson, Joseph Carlson and Kaitlyn Ruane. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt.27) Stoughton on Friday at 8:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Ann’s Church, Raynham at 10 AM. Visiting Hours Thursday 5-8 PM. Donations in his memory may be made to the Ray Tye Medical Aid Foundation, POB 850376, Braintree, MA 02185.
