JOHN JOSEPH HUFNAGLE, Jr.,
Of Canton , died Saturday morning, February 20, 2010 at the Caritas Norwood Hospital after a brief illness. He was 82.
Born, raised and educated in the Jamaica Plain and Roslindale sections of the City of Boston he was the son of the late John J. and Nora (Nee) Hufnagle. He was a resident of Canton for over 50 years moving there from Cambridge . Mr. Hufnagle and family were summer residents of Marshfield for over 40 years.
Earning his degree in Electrical Engineering for Northeastern University in Boston , Mr. Hufnagle began his electronical engineering career with the firm of McCarron and Sullivan in Boston , he retired after many years from McCarron, Hufnagle and Bent. He had been the treasurer of the I.E.E.E.
An active communicant of Saint Gerard Majella Parish, he was a member of the Ponkapong Civic and a former member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed spending time with his family, his grandchildren and great grandson, traveling, the beach and theatre. He was an active member of the Blue Hill Wellness Center .
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Dorothy T. (Henry) Hufnagle, his daughters, Patricia Rowell and her husband, Jonathan of Topsfield, Mary Hufnagle-Murray and her husband, David of Marshfield and Janet Seaberg and her husband, Robert of Abington and Martha Cummings and her husband, Charles of No. Easton, his son, John J. Hufnagle III and his wife, Maureen of Centerville, his sisters, the late Barbara Snow of Foxboro, Ruth Rowan of Newburyport, his brother Larry Hufnagle of Plymouth, sister Gloria Troy of Falmouth, his brother the late Paul Hufnagle, his sister Mary Hufnagle of Falmouth and his cousin Barbara Oswald, his grandchildren, Kevin and Peter Rowell, Justine and Courtney Murray, Elizabeth, Michael and his wife Jennifer, Paul Seaberg and John 4th, Sheila, Billy and Danny Hufnagle, his great grandson, Connor Seaberg and over 50 nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Funeral Services in celebration of his wife at the Roache - Pushard Family Home for Funerals, 210 Sherman Street, Canton, on Tuesday at 9 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial at Saint Gerard Majella Church at 10 a.m. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home of Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Expressions of sympathy may be made in John’s memory to the Saint Gerard Majella Church, 1860 Washington Street, Canton, MA 02021.
