Obituary

William F. Diemer, 82, of Derry, NH, died Sunday, February 21, 2010 in the Parkland Medical Center, Derry. Mr. Diemer was born in Philadelphia, PA on December 28, 1927, a son of the late Harold and Betty (Hahn) Diemer. He was a resident of Derry for the past three years, formerly living in Chester, NH and was a former longtime resident of Lynn, MA. Mr. Diemer was a very proud veteran of the U.S. Army, attaining the rank of Corporal. He served with Troop A 72nd Constabulary Squadron, with part of his duties being guarding German prisoners toward the end of WWII. He earned the Army of Occupation of Japan Medal, having been stationed in Osaka, as well as the WWII Victory Medal. Mr. Diemer also served during Korea where he served as an assistant Army mail clerk. Once discharged he began working as a production supervisor for Sylvania in Salem, MA, retiring after over 30 years of service. He was a member of the Chester Senior Center and the Chester Congregational Baptist Church. Mr. Diemer was a military history buff and model train buff whose family was very important to him.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Joyce C. Diemer of Derry and his daughter, Cynthia C. Bequette and her partner Richard Tidd of Bedford, NH. He was predeceased by his brother, Robert Diemer.

There will be no calling hours. Graveside services with military burial honors were held 11:00am Thursday, February 25, 2010 in the NH State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway, Boscawen, NH. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at 1:00pm in the Chester Congregational Baptist Church, 4 Chester St., Chester. The Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry is in charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society 30 Speen St. Framingham, MA 01710.
