Obituary

Jean Martell Sesock, 90, of Hyannis passed away peacefully on February 20, 2010 after a brief illness. She was born on July 27, 1919 in Quincy, MA and was the last survivor of 8 children born to Napoleon and Elizabeth Martell. She was the beloved wife of the late George F. Sesock. She is survived by her children; Jeanne Burton-Packer of Hyannis, Betsy Sesock-Kostas of Kingston, NH, Michael Sesock of Rockland and Gail O’Meara of Abington. She is pre-deceased by her daughter Carol Sesock. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Frank K. Burton III of South Dakota, Laura Burton Gilsdorf of Marstons Mills, Amanda and Christine Sesock of Rockland and her great grandchildren, Evan and Jacqueline Gilsdorf of Marstons Mills, and Alexandria and Rhiannon Burton of Marshfield. She is also survived by many nephews, nieces and cousins.

She lived in Quincy for many years, graduating from Quincy High School in 1937. During World War II, she worked as a welder at the Fore River Shipyard. She then spent many years in Holbrook raising a family, before moving to Hyannis a short while ago.

She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, taking care of her beloved cats Tigger and Smoky and playing BINGO.

Friends and family are invited to pay their respects at the Blanchard Funeral Chapel Plymouth Street (Rt. 58 at the rotary) Whitman on Thursday February 25th from 5 - 8 pm. Funeral service in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel on Friday February 26th at 12:30PM. Burial will follow in the Union Cemetery Holbrook, MA. Flowers are welcome or donations in Jean’s name can be made to the Massachusetts Humane Society, 87 Wharf St, E Weymouth, MA 02189.
