Obituary

Vera Mae Pearman Goodman, 89, of Chula died Monday, February 22, 2010, at Southern Care Assisted Living. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 24, 2010, at Macedonia Baptist Church in Chula. Rev. Randall Gay and Rev. Corey Thompson will officiate with burial to follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Her grandsons, Tim Morrow, Mike Morrow, Anthony Goodman, Donald Goodman, Zack Goodman, Brandon Goodman; and her great grandsons, Josh King and Jake Martin will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons of Macedonia Baptist Church, J. E. Sumner Jr., Burrell Sumner, Jerry Wiggins, Hollis Register and Bill King. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 23, 2010, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. The body will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service.

Mrs. Goodman was born on December 1, 1920 in Tift County and was the daughter of Elbert Pearman and Viola Bass Pearman, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Avis Goodman, who died in 2006; and three brothers, Lamar Pearman, J. B. Pearman and Horace Pearman. She was a homemaker and a member of Macedonia Baptist Church in Chula, where she taught the Tiny Tots Sunday School Class for several years. She was also a member of the 5C Club of Chula.

Mrs. Goodman is survived by three sons and one daughter-in-law, James and Patricia Goodman of Chula, Raymond Goodman of Chula and Ray Goodman of Omega; two daughters and sons-in-law, Elizabeth and Wayne Morrow of Chula and Linda and James Bryan of Chula; one brother, Frank Pearman of Chula; 14 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and four great great grandchildren.
