Obituary

George Harold Langford, 85, Clarksville, died Sunday, February 21, 2010, at his residence, 22 years to the day that his mother died. The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Chapel with Brother Richard Logan officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 11 a.m. until the hour of the service Wednesday at the funeral home. A Masonic service will be held at will be held 7 p.m. Tuesday at Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Chapel. Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. He was born December 6, 1924 in Cheatham County, TN son of the late George Edwin Langford and Elizabeth Lorene Wilson Langford. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Daisy Stack Langford. Mr. Langford was a member of Heads Freewill Baptist Church and in recent years attended Excell Baptist Church. He was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 89, F&AM and was a volunteer firefighter for the Roosevelt Fire Department. He loved visiting with family and friends and giving away his wife's caramel cakes. His last words were his daughters names who were at his bed side. Survivors include two daughters, Debbie Holt (Phil) and Constance Gray (Charles) both of Clarksville; a brother, James Preston Langford, Clarksville; two sisters, Faye Barnett, Pleasant View,TN; and Betty Ann Pruitt, Murfreesboro; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Jason Holt, Robert Griffey, Jay McKenzie, James Barnett, Jason Barnett, John Jones III, and Mike Thomas.
