Adelaide (Santos) Guilmette, 85, of New Bedford died February 20, 2010 at St. Luke's Hospital after a brief illness.
Born in New Bedford, daughter of the late Sebastian and Mary (Gonsalves) Santos, she lived in New Bedford all of her life.
She was formerly employed by several local textile mills for many years until retirement.
Adelaide enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Bisca Tournament Club.
Her family would like to thank the staff of Taber Street Nursing Home and Crapo Ward at St. Luke's Hospital.
Survivors include 2 sons, Robert Gilmette of New Bedford and Kenneth Corriea of Middleboro; 2 daughters, Beverly Britto of New Bedford and Marlene Sylvester of Attleboro; 4 sisters, Ilda DePina of Fairhaven, Matilda Roderick of Falmouth and Vivian Silva and Shirley Silva, both of New Bedford; 10 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
She was the grandmother of the late Kim Costa and the sister of the late Anna Dash, Dorothy Dash and Joseph Santos.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford Friday, February 26th at 8 AM. Funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Assumption Church at 9 AM. Visiting hours will be on Thursday, February 25th from 4-8 PM.
