
Eva Emeline Pearson passed on Friday, February 19th at her home with her family at her side.
Eva was born in the family homestead at Mashantucket, CT on October 15, 1923 to Elizabeth George, the matriarch of the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation. At the time of her passing, Eva was the oldest enrolled member of the Tribe.
She is survived by her five children, Jo-Ann DarkEyes, Judith Bell, and Alan Pearson Jr. all of Mashantucket CT, Jane Kane of Oak Hill, VA, and Christopher Pearson of New Haven, CT; her sisters, Elizabeth Quintero and Loretta Libby, both of Mashantucket; 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Alan Pearson Sr., and her siblings, Charles, Donald, Vera, and Theresa.
Viewing will be held at the Mashantucket Pequot Museum on Monday, February 22nd from 12noon until 1pm, followed by words of remembrance from 1pm until 1:30. Transportation will then be provided from the museum to the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Burial Ground for a service, and then return to the Museum for a reception until 5pm.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Mashantucket Pequot Museum and Research Center.
