NATICK: Elizabeth R. “Sis” (Foley) Daly died peacefully in the care and comfort of her family at her residence on Friday evening February 19, 2010.
She was born on October 21, 1910 in the family residence in Natick where she resided for 99 years. She was the daughter of the late John Foley and Mary C. (Connolly) Foley.
Mrs. Daly is survived by her loving and devoted daughter Mary C. (Daly) Collins Spaulding and her husband Lee H. Spaulding, Jr. of Natick. She is also survived by her grandchildren Troy W. Collins of Milford, Carol A. (Collins) Ferrier and her husband Paul of Ashland, Master Sergeant Lee H. Spaulding, III of Ramstein Air Force Base, Germany, Dawn M. (Collins) Parra of Worcester, Jill M. Spaulding of Millbury and Terrance L. Collins and his wife Tamra of Hopkinton. Also survived by her great-grandchildren, Jennifer Parra, Paul Jr. and Kayla Ferrier, Lee H. IV, Nathan, Charles and Robert Spaulding, Morgan Tilton, Trevor and Travis Collins and her grandson-in-law Antonio Parra of Marlborough. She was the beloved wife of the late William “Bill” Daly who died in December 2006, grandmother of the late Thomas F. Collins who died in September 1967 and sister to the late Francis Foley.
Mrs. Daly has been a lifelong resident on Natick and was educated in the Natick School system. As a young girl she began as a housekeeper at the Walnut Hill School in Natick and retired after over 30 years of dedicated service as the Head of Housekeeping at the school. For many years she was associated with the Wayland School Cafeteria Program at the Wayland Junior High School and at Loker School. Sis was devoted to her Catholic faith and was a communicant of St. Zepherins Church in Cochituate and for many years prepared the altar cloths for the church. She and her late husband Bill met in Cochituate as a young couple and dated for 10 years before they married and spent 67 years as husband and wife. Sis and Bill were original members of the Wayland Senior Citizens Club and the Natick Senior Citizens Club. They loved to dance and for years belonged to the Fairs and Squares, a local square dancing club.
Sis will be remembered fondly for her quick wit and as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother to her family and for always being there to do for others.
Visitations will be held on Tuesday, February 23, 2010 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm in the Bryant Memorial Chapel of the John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Road (off Route 30), Cochituate.
Family and friends may gather at the funeral home on Wednesday, February 24, 2010 at 9:00 am followed by her Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at St. Zepherins Church, 99 Main St (Route 27), Cochituate,
Interment will follow in St. Zepherins Cemetery in Cochituate,
