Obituary

EDWARD LEVIN MULHALL, 89, passed away on Thursday, February 18, 2010.

He was born to Henrietta and James Mulhall on July 1, 1920 in Clarkson, Kentucky. He married his childhood sweetheart, Margie Salsman, on June 28, 1941, and they were married until her death in 2002.

He was the high scorer in basketball for Kentucky while attending Clarkson High School, and was offered a full scholarship to the University of Kentucky by Adolf Rupp. Instead he decided to work for the L & N Railroad, a job he loved, and retired after 43 years. He served in WW II with the Army, in the railroad battalion, and was stationed in and around the Battle of the Bulge area. He was long time member of St. Polycarp, which is now St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church. Edward always felt he had a wonderful life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and his brother, James A. Mulhall.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Jerry Pettus; three grandchildren (and spouses), Robert and (Xiao Fang) Melissa and (Ben), and Christopher; three great grandchildren, Song, Barbara, and Bryce; and his sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Billy Goff.

His funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Monday at St. Peter the Apostle, Columbine Campus, 7718 Columbine Drive with burial in St. Elizabeth Cemetery, Clarkson, KY.

Visitation will be from 1 – 8 p.m. Sunday at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Highway.
