GLOUCESTER: Marjorie K. (Thompson) Merchant, 87, of McPherson Park, died February 18, 2010 in the Seacoast Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. She was the wife of the late Sumner Q. Merchant, who died in March of 1996. They had shared 47 years of marriage.
Born in Worcester on August 22, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Oscar L. and Edith (Kilborn) Thompson. She was a graduate of the Story High School, Manchester.
Marjorie had worked the lunch counter at the former Woolworth’s on Main Street for many years.
She is survived by her stepdaughter, Dorothy, wife of William Croft, grandchildren, Dawn Sutherland, Michael and Mark Pratt and many great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by granddaughters, Debbie Pearce, Terry Reed and Linda Grace.
In keeping with her wishes, there will be no services.
