Obituary

Karen Bisson, 52, of West Roxbury, passed away in Boston, MA on Sunday February 14, 2010. She waged a long, courageous battle against cancer but remained funny and sweet until the very end. Karen was beloved by her family and friends, including her partner Paul Gavin; parents Joan and Maurice Bisson, sisters Joyce Kuzmin and Deborah Sisson; the niece and nephew she doted on, Lily Sisson and Max Kuzmin; brothers-in law, Keith Kuzmin and David Sisson; her big puppy, Harry; and countless friends and colleagues who appreciated her good humor, generosity, and innate sweetness.

Karen was born in Leominster, MA where she attended public schools before going to Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts. After launching a successful sales career, Karen moved to West Roxbury to be closer to her sisters.

An accomplished downhill skier, Karen also enjoyed quiet activities such as reading, music, gardening, and spending time on the beach, particularly on Martha’s Vineyard, where she had hoped to retire. Karen was a passionate animal lover and had at least one and often two dogs, usually golden retrievers, throughout her adult life. No dogs were ever treated better.

Karen’s friends and family celebrated her life at a private memorial. According to her wishes, Karen’s ashes will be spread on Martha’s Vineyard in the places she loved most. Karen’s family invites anyone who wishes to honor her to make a donation to cancer research in her memory. www.lawlerfuneralhome.com
