GLOUCESTER: Adeline E. (Ahonen) Coull, 96, died on Sunday, February 14, 2010. She was the wife of the late Roy G. Coull.
Adeline was born in Boston on November 15, 1913. She attended Gloucester public schools and after graduating from Wilfred Academy, she spent many years as a licensed hairdresser in the Boston area.
Adeline was a devoted and compassionate mother and her unfailing humor always filled a room with laughter and wisdom. Those who knew and loved her relished in her youthful spirit and strength of character - her Sisu. In her later years she returned to Lanesville and her Finnish roots to spend the last years of her life residing in her family homestead where she knew joy and comfort.
She is survived by her daughter Deborah, and her longtime companion, Thomas Cordima; sisters-in-law, Marjorie Morse, Winifred Purdy, Nancy Wilson and Marge Sutherland; brothers-in-law, William Noble and his wife, Dorothy, and Robert Coull and his wife, Priscilla, as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. She will also be missed and remembered by her friends, especially, her longtime neighbor and friend, Hilda Kaihlanen.
A remembrance service will be held on Monday, February 22nd at the St. Paul Lutheran Church, 1123 Washington St., Gloucester at 5 P.M. Family and friends are cordially invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the Cape Ann Animal Aid, 260 Main St., Gloucester, MA, Pathways for Children, 29 Emerson Ave., Gloucester or to the St. Paul Lutheran Church, 1123 Washington St., Gloucester.
