EAST TAUNTON – Eugene P. Lecuyer, husband of Rose (Andrade) Lecuyer of E. Taunton, died at Morton Hospital on Feb. 16, 2010.
He was 81.
Born and raised in Taunton, he was the son of the late William and Eveline (Belanger) Lecuyer.
A lifelong Taunton resident, he was a 1946 graduate of Taunton High School.
Mr. Lecuyer worked as an accountant for the former Ansonia Mills in E. Taunton, and was later employed by the Narragansett Brewery until it closed.
He retired in 1993 after working for several years in the Taunton State Hospital pharmacy department.
A communicant of Holy Family Church, Mr. Lecuyer enjoyed crossword puzzles and sports; and was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan.
His greatest passion however was classical music.
At the age of 16, he began attending Boston Symphony Orchestra concerts, and continued the practice throughout most of his life, amassing an extensive collection of concert programs, on which he scribbled notes and critiqued performances; as well as a sizable collection of classical music recordings.
Besides his wife of East Taunton, Mr. Lecuyer leaves a daughter, Jeanine Lecuyer and her companion William Hyde of East Taunton; two brothers, Norman Lecuyer and his wife Beatrice of Taunton, and Roland Lecuyer of Raynham; a sister, Evelyn Rezendes of Taunton; and many nieces and nephews.
He was also the brother of the late William Lecuyer.
His funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway on Friday, Feb. 19th at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at Holy Family Church at 10 a.m. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling Hours will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, Feb. 18th from 4 to 7:30 p.m.
