Sister JoAnn Lewko passed away Monday, February 15, 2010 after a courageous battle with heart disease at the Felician Sisters Convent in Enfield, Ct. with the Felician Sisters at her side.
Sr. JoAnn served as principal of the St. Joseph's School in Webster, and the school thrived under her few years as principal. She prepared and executed the policies leading to the school becoming accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges.
Sister JoAnn held her students to high moral standards and valued the academic accomplishments of her teachers. She used her business accumen to conduct many very successful fund raising functions that were well attended by people from Webster and the surrounding towns. She will be sadly missed by her former students, their parents and the parishiners of the St. Joseph Parish as well as her multitude of friends.
visiting hours at the Convent in Enfield,Ct. will be on Friday,February 19,2010 from 1:30 to 8:00PM with a Prayer Service in the Chapel at 4:30 PM. Her Funeral will be held on Saturday, February 20,2010 at 10:30 AM in the Convent Chapel. Burial will follow in St.Adalbert's Cemetery in Enfield,Ct.
It was her request that any memorial contributions be made to the Felician Sisters Infirmary Renovation Fund and sent to the Felician Sisters Convent, 1315 Enfield St.,Enfield, Ct. 06082
