Patterson- David Lee Griffis, age 71, passed away Sunday, February 14, 2010 at his residence.
He was a native and lifelong resident of Appling County. He was an automobile and farm equipment dealer, a farmer, and was a member of Ephesus Church of God. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jean Jones Griffis, his brothers, Julian, Philmon, Willard, Kelson, Edward and Timothy Griffis, and his parents, Arthur and Rosa Lee Griffis.
Survivors are his daughter, Tammy Jean Brown of Patterson; a grandson, James Michael Brown of Stockbridge; and two adopted “sons”, Morris Fuller and Phil Griffis; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 18, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. in the James R. Gordon Memorial Chapel of Howard-Jones-Nobles Funeral Home with Rev. David Hubbs, Rev. Calvin Lewis, and Rev. Gene Evors officiating.
Interment will follow in Ephesus Church Cemetery in Appling County.
The family will receive friends Wednesday evening beginning at 6 pm at the funeral home.
Active Pallbearers will be Ronnie Griffis, Larry Fuller, Morris Fuller, Larry Griffis, Johnny Griffis, Dowell Jones, Neal Eunice, and Robert Eunice.
Honorary Pallbearers will be everyone in attendance.
