Mrs. Lauretta (Begnoche) Denis, of Taunton, died Sunday, February 14 at her residence following a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Camille Denis. She was born 102 years ago in Taunton, the daughter of the late Napoleon and Agnes (Cyr)
Begnoche. She was educated in Taunton, having graduated from the former Saint Jacques Grammar School, and had been a lifelong city resident. Prior to her retirement, she had been employed as a stitcher for the former Whittenton Garment Corp.
for 22 years. Following retirement, Mrs. Denis worked for the Taunton Council on Aging for 25 years, and also worked at voting polls for the City of Taunton during elections. She was a member of the Sodalite des Dames de Ste. Anne, the St. Jacques Church Womens Guild, the former Friendly Senior Citizens Club and was a recipient of the Marian Medal Award. Mrs. Denis was very active in parish affairs, participating in church Penny Sales, whist parties and numerous other church activities. She also performed as a soloist at many Masses. She enjoyed playing cards, sewing and clothing repair for the elderly, and spending time with her family. She was a communicant of St. Jude the Apostle Church in Taunton.

Mrs. Denis was also the sister of the late Joseph, Napoleon, Antoine, David, Charles and Alfred Begnoche and Sr. Jeanne Almelia, SUSC, and was the great grandmother of the late Brooke Elizabeth Simmons.
Funeral services will be held from The Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home, 467 Bay Street, on Friday, February 19 at 9:00 A.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow in St. Jude the Apostle Church at 10:00 A.M. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
