Obituary

Leonard "Lenny" Correia, 73, of Fairhaven, died February 14, 2010 at New Bedford Health Care Center, surrounded by his family, after a brief illness.

Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Mariano Correia and Jenny (Arruda) Cruz, he lived in New Bedford for most of his life.

Mr. Correia was formerly employed as a painter for George Saint-Aubin Painting Company.

He was member of the American Pool Association and the Loyal Order of Moose. He was an avid bowler and Red Sox fan.

He served in the U.S. Marine Corps.

Survivors include his companion, Lea Gregoire; four children, Leonard Correia, Jr. and his wife Alda, Robin Pereira, Kim Souza and her fiancé Steven Pina, and Cheryl Perry; three brothers, Richard, Antone, and Theodore Cruz; a sister, Janice Cruz; seven grandchildren, Keri and Kelsey Pereira, Melissa and Mikey Souza, Dillon and Brett Correia, and Cotey Perry; a great-grandson, Jacoby Almeida; and several nieces and nephews.

He was the father-in-law of the late Richard Pereira and brother of the late Dennis Correia.

His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday at 10 AM in St. Joseph-St. Therese Church. Burial in Pine Grove Cemetery will be private.
