Auburn- Hubert “Rod” Barry, of Auburn, died Sunday, February 14th in the Christopher House, Worcester. His wife, Mary Elizabeth “Bettie” (Coyle) Barry, died in 2004. He leaves his many friends, including Gary and Sue Gustafson and Matt Johnson, of Auburn and the Cawley family of Shrewsbury.
Mr. Barry received his Bachelor and Master degrees from Worcester State College and was a teacher in the Auburn School System for 41 years. He created the Outdoor Science Program for Auburn Middle School in the early 1970’s. Rod was active in town affairs and served on many of its boards and was a longtime member and lector at North American Martyrs Church.
Funeral services are private. There are no calling hours. O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, Worcester, is directing arrangements. Mr. Barry’s last words were: “With a little more time, I would’ve gotten it right!”
