Obituary

SALEM- Anna B. (Bartnicki) Kowalski, age 82, of Salem, wife of the late Chester J. Kowalski, died unexpectedly on Monday, September 29, 2003 at her home. She was also the wife of the late Alfred L. Kobuszewski.

Born in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Wladyslaw and Jozefa (Lipka) Bartnicki. A lifelong resident of Salem, she was a parishioner of Ste. Anne’s Church in Salem.

Prior to her retirement in the mid 1980's, Mrs Kowalski was employed in the offices of the United Shoe Machine Corporation in Beverly for 13 years. She was previously employed for over 25 years by GTE Sylvania at the Boston Street, Salem office and later at Sylvan Street in Danvers. She was a member of the GTE Sylvania Quarter Century Club.

She is survived by two brothers, Edward W. and his wife Ruth Bartnicki of Salem, Thaddeus Bartnicki and his companion, Louise Dupee, of Beverly, four sisters, Mary Townsend and Estelle L’Italien, both of Oak Island, NC, Helen and her husband Philip Mignault of Topsfield, Alice and her husband Richard Desmond of Beverly, step-sons, John M. Kobuszewski of Lynn, Mark E. Kobuszewski of Westminster, her former step-daughter-in-law, Julie (Kowalski) Bechtold and her husband Kenneth Bechtold of Lafayette, NJ, three step-grandchildren, Jennifer Bechtold, Katherine Bechtold and Kenneth Bechtold III, all of Lafayette, NJ, a brother-in-law, Alexander S. Kowalski and his wife Regina of Salem and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a step-son, Donald Kowalski and one brother, John Bartnicki.

Her funeral service will be held on Friday, October 3, 2003 at 8 am from the Full-Spychalski Funeral Home, 84 Washington Square East, by Salem Common, Salem, followed by funeral Mass at 9 am at Ste. Anne’s Church, Salem. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. Visiting hours are Thursday, 5 to 8 pm. For those who desire, donations may be made in her memory to the Ste.
