Obituary

WORCESTER - David L. Hall, 85, formerly of 14 Willard Ave., Worcester, died peacefully on Saturday, February 13, 2010 at the Christopher House of Worcester. His wife, Muriel (Bergstrom) Hall, died in 2005.
He leaves a son, David L. Hall, Jr. and his wife, Minta of Essex; two daughters, Christine L. Curran and her husband, John of West Boylston, Karen K. Todd and her husband, Paul of Charlton; eight grandchildren, Bergen Daley and her husband, Michael, Jerusha Hall, Callie Curran Morrell and her husband, Daniel Morrell, Timothy Curran, Janet Curran, James Todd, Katherine Todd, and Kyle Todd; one great-grandchild, Michael Scott Daley. He is also survived by one sister, Christine Lewis of Canterbury, CT.
David was born in Shanghai, China, the son of Raymond S. and Margaret (Hogg) Hall. He spent the first twelve years of his life in Nanking and Tien-tsin areas of China. The family returned to Massachusetts due to the outbreak of World War II in China.
He graduated from Mount Herman and Worcester Polytechnic Institute in 1946 with an engineering degree, and then served as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Navy.
David worked most of his career at the former Coes Knife Company in Worcester, MA as Vice-President of Manufacturing.
As a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, David valued family, church and community. He was an active member of the First Congregational Church of Worcester. He served on the Board of Trustees of the Goddard House of Worcester. He was a member of the Tatnuck Island Club for many years.
David was pre-deceased by two sisters, Miriam (Handy) Woods and Rachel Turney, and a brother, Charles Hall.
A memorial service will be held at The First Congregational Church, 1070 Pleasant St., Worcester on Sunday, March 14th at 1:00 PM with a reception following in the church hall. Burial will be private at a later date in Hillside Cemetery, Auburn. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The First Congregational Church, 1070 Pleasant St., Worcester, MA 01602 or the Christopher House Endowment Fund, 10 Mary Scano Dr., Worcester, MA. Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln St., is directing arrangements.

David's children would like to thank the staff of the Brookside Unit at Christopher House for the care and compassion shown to their father.
