Blanche Mary Manning, 91, died February 13, 2010 at Hackett Hill Healthcare surrounded by her family..
She was born in Manchester on September 21, 1918 the daughter of James B. and Florence (Perras)
Connors. She had been a lifelong resident of Manchester.
She graduated from St. George High School where she eventually became the girl’s basketball coach. She was a National basketball referee and Red Cross swimming instructor. Many years ago she was a radio announcer for Moreau’s Hardware and active in local and state politics. She was the Manchester City Chairman for Governor John King. Blanche was a member of St. George Parish, an active member of the Women’s Guild at OLPH, and a member of St. Anthony Parish. She was proud to be a member of the Crystal Lake Preservation Association where she and her family enjoyed their summer home.
She loved to play bridge with her sisters and cook for family gatherings. She devoted her life to raising her children and grandchildren and loved attending all of their events.
She was predeceased by her husband of 43 years, Attorney James A. Manning in 1990.
In Her Life: She was a devoted mother and grandmother to her family; her daughter Ann Manning Messa and her husband, Dr. Anthony Messa; her son, Attorney J. Andrew Manning and his wife Paula (Delessio) Manning; and her daughter Teresa H. Cardin and her husband Kenneth J. Cardin; nine grandchildren, Catherine (Messa) Saadat and her husband Cameron of Alexandria VA., Michael Messa and his wife Sara, Steven Messa, Maria Manning, James Manning, Callan Cardin, Kacie Cardin, Elizabeth Cardin and Jacqueline Cardin; her brother in law Robert Young and the many nieces and nephews that she loved so dearly. She was predeceased by her brother, James Connors and her sisters, Claire Bergeron and Therese Young.
Services: Calling hours will be Monday from 3 to 7 pm at J. N. Boufford & Sons Funeral Home, 110 Bridge St. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 9:30 AM in St. Anthony Church , Belmont St. Burial will follow in St. Augustin Cemetery.
