Obituary

DARTMOUTH — Mary F. Currie, 81, of South Dartmouth, died February 4, 2010, at St. Luke's Hospital after a short illness. She was the wife of the late Andrew G. Currie.

Born in Old Saybrook, CT, she resided in South Dartmouth for the last 45 years.

A graduate of Bates College, she went on to work at SMU/UMass Dartmouth for over 23 years serving in the position of Head Administrative Clerk and later as Affirmative Action Director. Mary also served as President of the Universities Library Associates. After retirement she went on to work for the Westport School System.

An avid reader she enjoyed sitting with a good book or crossword puzzle and watching her favorite sports team. Every week she would join her friends for a good game of bridge. A long time member of the Congregational Church of South Dartmouth, she along with her fellow church circle friends donated much time to many charitable causes in the community.

She is survived by her sons, Andrew Currie of Celina, TN, Scott Currie of South Dartmouth, MA, Alan Currie of Las Vegas, NV; daughter, Elizabeth McDowell of Green Bay, WI; sisters, Peggy Linville of Media, PA, Jane Sullivan of Wilbraham, MA; and a brother, Dr. Warren Fisher of Northampton, MA.

A private family gathering celebrating Mary's life will be held in lieu of funeral services.
