LYNN: Charlene E. Renales, 57, formerly of Gloucester, died peacefully in the Twins Oaks Nursing Home, Danvers following a courageous battle with both Cadasil and Post Polio Syndromes.
Born in Gloucester on July 26, 1952, she was the daughter of the late Donald R., Sr. and Nancy J. (Carmichael) Renales. She was a graduate of the Gloucester High School class of 1972. She attended Northampton Junior College and Fisher College; received an associate’s degree in science from North Shore Community College and was a graduate of
the University of Massachusetts, having received a bachelor’s degree in business management.
She had resided in Gloucester and Magnolia for most of her life. Charlene was last employed by Putnam Investments before retiring due to health issues.
She relocated to Cape Coral, Florida in the year 2000 and while living there, she kept busy as the treasurer and renovations advisor for her condo complex. Her caring and giving spirit led her to become a volunteer for various women’s crisis centers in Massachusetts, California and Florida. Her hobbies included traveling around the country, maintaining magnificent gardens, and French cooking. She also enjoyed listening to Jazz music and loved the ocean.
She is survived by two brothers and sisters-in-law, Gary and Carolyn Renales of Murfreesboro, TN, Craig and Lynne (Menicocci) Renales of Gloucester, two sisters, Carole and Pollyann Renales both of Lynn and many nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by two brothers and a sister-in-law, Donald R., Jr. and Christine (Rocha) Renales and Kenneth “Buzzy” Renales.
A service will be held on Monday in the Calvary Cemetery at 11 a.m. A celebration of her life will continue at the home of her sisters, Carole and Pollyann, at 27 Cedar Brook Road, Lynn from 1 – 6 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. Charlene’s family would like to express their gratitude to all her caretakers from the United Cerebral Palsy Foundation, Metro West Boston, All Care Hospice, Lynn and Twin Oaks Nursing Rehabilitation Center, Danvers.
