Barbara V. Stone, 74, of Derry, NH, died Thursday, February 11, 2010 in the Parkland Medical Center, Derry. Mrs. Stone was born in Newton, MA on January 2, 1936, daughter of the late Richard B. and Barbara P. (Hutton) Simmons, Sr. She was a resident of Derry for the last 15 years, formerly living in Chester, NH and Newton, MA. Barbara was a homemaker who enjoyed attending 4H horse shows with her children. She was an avid candlepin bowler, enjoyed gardening, crafts and was a skilled bridge player. She also did volunteer work with the Derry Visiting Nurses.
She is survived by four children, Barbara Ann Collins of St. Albans, VT, Michael Stone of Chester, NH, Diane Lalicata and her husband James of Derry and Christopher Stone of Derry, two grandchildren, Alexis J. and Austin B. Pereira, a brother, Richard B. Simmons of Brookfield, MA and also by many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Alyce Wolowski.
A visiting hour was held from 9:00am to 10:00am Saturday, February 13, 2010 in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. A funeral service was held Saturday at 10:00am in the funeral home. The burial followed in Forest Hill Cemetery, Derry.
