
Francis Leo Petersen Sr., 90, a longtime resident of Franklin, died, Tuesday, February 9, 2010 at the Milford Regional Medical Center. He was the husband of Evelyn (Segeberg) Petersen who died in 2001.
Born in Boston on October 21, 1919, he was a son of the late Hans and Mary (McKenna) Petersen.
Mr. Petersen was a machinist at the Crosby Valve Co. in Wrentham for many years until his retirement. While working there, he made parts for some of the first space rockets.
Mr. Petersen was a member of the Franklin Elks Club and was a champion at horseshoes as well as bowling and pool.
He is survived by four children, Evelyn Splaine of Walpole, Francis Petersen Jr. of Franklin, James Petersen of Wrentham and Kathleen St. Martin of Medway.
He is also survived by eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Monday, February 15 from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. in the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin, 131 Main St. in Franklin. His memorial service will be held on Monday at 11a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to a charity of one’s choice.
