Lena A. (Douville) Baron, age 92, of Lowell, passed away on Monday, Feb. 8th, 2010 at a local healthcare facility in Lowell after a long illness. She was the beloved wife of the late Hector Baron.
Born in Lowell on August 29, 1917, she was a daughter of the late Otis and Alice (Marchand) Douville. Lena received her education through Lowell and Hudson, NH schools. She resided in Hudson, NH for 18 years and was formerly of Dracut for many years. She was a communicant of the former Ste. Jeanne d'Arc Parish in Lowell where she was a member of the Ladies Sodality.
Prior to her retirement, Lena was a social worker with the Department of Public Welfare in Lowell and Chelmsford for 10 years.
She was a member of the Red Hat Society and loved to knit and play bingo.
Lena is survived by her children and their spouses, Priscilla and Lucien Beauley of Manchester, NH, Carmel and Victor Poirier of Concord, Rachel Mousseau, Gerard and Cali Baron, all of Dracut, Suzanne Grondin of Lowell and Louise and Frank Mousseau of Dracut; a brother-in-law, William McCabe of Nashua; a nephew, Denis Baker of Goffstown, NH; also 14 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Antoinette Marchand and Jeannette McCabe, grandmother of the late Michael Poirier, mother-in-law of the late Jess Grondin and sister-in-law of the late Paul Marchand.
Relatives and friends may call at the M. R. LAURIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 295 Pawtucket St., Lowell on Friday, Feb. 12 from 5 to 7pm. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday morning at 9 o'clock at St. Rita Church, Lowell. Interment in St. Joseph Cemetery.
