Mary “Janice” (Linnan) Shaffer, 85, of Westport died Tuesday, February 9, 2010 at Charlton Memorial Hospital. She was wife of the late Edward F. Shaffer.
Born in Fonda, IA, she was daughter of the late James M. and Helen (Lilly) Linnan. She was a Communicant of St. John the Baptist Church, Westport. Mrs. Shaffer was a member of the St. Mary’s Cathedral Group in Fall River and the Sunday Widows Club. She served as secretary for the Town of Westport Registrar of Voters for several years.
Survivors include 2 sons: Edward J. Shaffer of Kennesaw, GA and Peter J. Shaffer of Walton, KY; 5 daughters: Lynn A. Troy of Elmira, NY, Ellen J. Sullivan of Westport, Mary C. Askeland of Dartmouth, Gretchen A. Arcouette of Little Compton and Patricia J. Rodrigues of Westport; 13 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was sister of the late James G. Linnan.
Memorial Mass to which relatives and friends are invited will be Saturday, February 13, 2010 at St. John the Baptist Church, Westport at 11:00 A.M.
At the family’s request calling hours are respectfully omitted.
Interment will be held at the convenience of the family.
