Mrs. Mary E. Melanson, “Eli” of Medford, died Sunday in the Marian Manor Nursing Home in South Boston. She is the wife of the late Charles M. Melanson. Born in Arlington, she was the daughter of the late William and Agnes (Filion) Foley. She had been a longtime resident of Woburn. In earlier years she was an active participant in St. Barbara’s Parish in Woburn. She had worked in the former Choate Hospital in Woburn. She is survived by a stepdaughter Marianne Bowen and her husband John of Medford, a granddaughter Corinne Marks and her husband Donald, a great grandson Eric Marks of Medford a sister, Agnes Helen Barry of Acton. She is the sister of the late Edward Foley. In addition, she leaves several nieces and nephews.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday at 9:00 am in the Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant Street, Malden. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Interment will be follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Arlington. Friends may call Thursday from 6 - 8 PM at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford.
