WAYLAND: Betty (Szeto) Mah, 71, died unexpectedly on Sunday, February 7, 2010 at the Metrowest Medical Center in Framingham after being stricken at her residence.
She was born in China on May 13, 1938.
Betty is survived by her loving and devoted husband. Fay S.G. Mah of Wayland. She was the beloved mother of Byron W. Mah and his wife Angela of Framingham; Wendell B. Mah and his wife Rhonda of Weston and Tina D. Yuen and her husband Reverend Walton Yuen of Austin, Texas. Cherished grandmother of Adele T. Mah and Aurik T. Mah of Weston, Joseph H. Yuen and Stephanie G. Yuen of Austin Texas. Sister of Hing Szeto of Canton, China; Shu Dick Ju of Milford; Leon Ju of Oviedo, FL and May Ling Hutchinson of Houston, TX. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Betty has been a resident of Wayland for 46 years and previously resided in Framingham and Hong Kong. She came to the United States in 1958 and received her BA in Mathematics from Clark University in Worcester. She received her Accounting degree from Bentley College in Waltham. For many years she has been the accountant for the Community United Methodist Church and recently retired from that position. She has also served on the Finance Committee, a member of the Nurture and Evangelism Committee and the Staff Parish Committee of the church. She was an avid reader, spent many hours crocheting and loved to travel with her husband and family. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother to her family.
Visitations will be held on Thursday, February 11, 2010 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm in the Bryant Memorial Chapel of the John C. Bryant Funeral Home. 56 Pemberton Road (Off Route 30) Cochituate Village, Wayland.
Her funeral services will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, Feb. 12, 2010 at the Community United Methodist Church, Corner of Route 27 and Damon Street, Cochituate Village, Wayland.
