WORCESTER-William B. Benson, 76, of Worcester died Saturday, February 6th in UMass Memorial Medical Center. He leaves his wife of 52 years, Frances R. (Dyer) Benson; four sons, George Benson and his wife, Myrna, Nathan Benson, Tower Benson and Andre Benson all of Worcester; a daughter, Franchelle Bradley and her husband, Ali of Maryland; a nephew, Shawn Benson; 15 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren and many other relatives. A sister, Beverly (Tookie) Benson predeceased him.
Mr. Benson was born in Worcester, the son of Bill Benson, Lucille (Price) Harrod and her husband, George. William worked at the Clinton Water Reservoir as an Electrical Engineer for 22 years, retiring in 1999. He was a member of AME Zion Church. He loved jazz music and enjoyed playing the saxophone.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, February 11th from 11:00 AM until 12:30 PM in O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue. There are no calling hours.
