Obituary

Mrs. Sheila A. (Cheponis) Gendreau, age 67, a longtime resident of Lowell, died on Friday February 6, 2010, at Saints Medical Center. She was the beloved wife of Gerald L. Gendreau, with whom she would have celebrated 40 years of marriage on June 27.
She was born in Brentwood, NH on August 11th, 1942, daughter of the late Michael & Virginia Cheponis.
Together with her husband Gerald, she was the co-owner of Russo Music on Bridge St., which operated in Lowell for 38 years. Prior to that, she was employed as a Nurses Aid in Pediatrics and the O.R. at the former St. Joseph Hospital in Lowell for over 15 years.
According to the family, Sheila enjoyed arts & crafts and was an avid reader.
Besides her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Mageira of Lowell; a brother and sister-in-law: Bruce & Joanne Cheponis of Tennessee; three grandchildren, Scott Senior, Alicia Grandmaison and Brittany Ferbert, all of Lowell; a great-grandson, Isaiah; an aunt, June Robitaille of Florida; three sisters-in-law, Shirley Gendreau, Lucille Perry and Leona LaPlante and her husband Ronald; two nieces, and many friends including her best-friend, Fran Draper of Lowell.
She was also sister of the late Michael Cheponis, Jr..

Relatives & Friends will be received on Weds. Feb. 10, from 4:00-8:00 PM at the M.R. LAURIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 295 Pawtucket St., Lowell, MA 01854. A Prayer Service will take place in the funeral home at 8:00 PM. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the House of Hope-812 Merrimack St., Lowell, MA 01854.
