Obituary

Mr. Robert Berndt, of Ft.Myers, Fla. and formerly of Taunton, Ma., died January 21 in Ft. Myers following a lengthy illness. He was the husband of Madeleine (Moniz) Berndt and the late Grace (Chaisty) Berndt. He was born 74 years ago in Newton, Ma. the son of the late John B. and Helen S. (Kress) Berndt. He was educated in Dedham,
Ma. and had been a Taunton resident for 39 years before retiring to Florida in 2000. Prior to his retirement, he had been employed by the City of Taunton Street Depart-
ment for 30 years. He had previously owned and operated a charter fishing vessel for a number of years. Mr. Berndt was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War, having served on the U.S.S. Newport. He was a member of the National Rifle Association and
was active in several gun clubs in the Taunton area. Mr. Berndt enjoyed fishing, hunting, painting and formerly bowled in several leagues at Taunton Ten Pin. He was a former communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Taunton
In addition to his wife, he leaves:

1 stepson: Peter Luciano and his wife, Melissa of Lakeland, Fla.
3 stepdaughters: Michelle Moglia and her husband, Scott of Barrington, R.I.
Marcia Luciano and her companion, Greg LaPierre of Riverside, R.I.
Gail Luciano of Jacksonville, Fla.
6 grandchildren: Christopher Powers, Tucker Powers, Emma Berndt, Melanie Berndt,
Aurabella Jackson and River Berndt
several nieces and nephews
Funeral services will be held from The Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home, 467 Bay Street, Taunton, on Saturday, February 13 at 9:00 A.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow in St. Jude the Apostle Church at 10:00 A.M. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting Hours will be held on Friday, from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M.
