Obituary

SALISBURY: Carolyn A. (Dyke) Brown, 49, formerly of Danvers, died Wednesday, February 3, 2010 in the Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston following a brief illness. She was the wife of David M. Brown.
Born in Danvers on June 21, 1960, she was the daughter of Doris (Midgley) Dyke of Salisbury and the late James Dyke. She was a graduate of Danvers High School and had resided in Danvers and Newbury for many years before moving to Salisbury in 1995.
She was a valued employee in the accounting department of Cell Signaling Technologies in Beverly. “Cal” to her family and friends, was a woman of many talents. Her devotion to her family and legion of friends, love of the outdoors, boating, travel, the beach and her beloved dogs were always evident. Her work ethic and legendary home-making skills were widely admired. She was a beautiful warm person inside and out. Hers was a life well lived.
In addition to her husband and mother, she is survived by her loving daughter, Jaclyn M. Brown and her companion, James Powers of Londonderry, NH; two brothers, Gary and his wife, Debbie (Pelletier) Dyke of Newburyport and Neil and his wife, Diane (Drouin) Dyke of Belmont, NH; her mother-in-law, Hannah (McAuliffe) Brown of Beverly; two brothers-in-law, John and his wife, Kathleen (O’Keefe) Brown of Rowley and Paul and his wife, Josephine (Murphy) Brown of North Conway, NH; two sisters-in-law, Kathy and her husband, James Delaney of Rowley and Marianne and her husband, Curtis Hall of Beverly and many nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by her brother, James Dyke and father-in-law, John Brown.
Her funeral services will be held on Tuesday in the Grondin Funeral Home, 376 Cabot Street, Beverly at 10 a.m. Visiting hours will be held on Monday from 4 – 8 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the Jimmy Fund, c/o Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, 10 Brookline Place West, 6th Floor, Brookline, MA 02445-7226. Interment will be held in the Walnut Grove Cemetery, Danvers.
