Obituary

Ubie David Singletary, Sr. (Big Shine), 90, of Summerville, widower of Mary Harmon Singletary died Tuesday, February 2, 2010 at his residence.

Funeral service will be held Friday, February 5, 2010 at 1 o’clock at James A. Dyal Funeral Home Chapel, Summerville. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 6 until 8 o’clock this evening. Burial will follow at Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery, Summerville.
Flowers will be accepted.

Mr. Singletary was born December 26, 1919 in Berkeley County, son of the late William D. Singletary and Fronie Burbage Singletary. He was a graduate of Berkeley County Schools. He was a veteran of the United States Navy serving in World War II. He was an expeditor at the Naval Supply Center and retired in 1973. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and was a member of Ridge Baptist Church.

Surviving are: 1 son: Ubie D. Singletary, Jr. and his wife Helen, 1 daughter: Terry J. Singletary Beebe and her husband Don, 1 sister: Leronie Selby of Oklahoma, 5 grandchildren: Donald L. Beebe Jr. (Cindy), Lloyd Beebe Sr. (Kaye), Malinda Singletary Smith (Bill), Malissa Singletary Flynt (Joe) and Woodrow Singletary Jr. (Cherie), 12 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. He was predeceased by 2 sons: Woodrow W. and Johnny W. Singletary.
