Obituary

Evelyn F. (Foisy) Benner, 92 of Rochester died September 26, 2003 unexpectedly at home.

She was the wife of the late Ward E. Benner and former wife of the late James A. Leddy and daughter of the late Edward J. and Emma E. (Morlock) Foisy.

Mrs. Benner was born in New Bedford and had lived in New Bedford and Rochester for all of her life.

She was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church in Rochester.

Mrs. Benner was formerly employed as a switchboard operator for Standard Grocery and later with Merchants Bank until her retirement.

She was a member of the Rochester Council on Aging, the Rochester Senior Citizens Club and the R.S.V.P. Volunteer Service in Plymouth. She was also the secretary for the Rochester Senior Citizens bowling team. In 2003, she was the recipient of the Howard Keel Award for volunteer work.

Survivors include a daughter, Patricia M. Lewis, and her husband J. Maurice Lewis, of Fairhaven; and 2 stepsons, Ward A. Benner, and his wife Evelyn, and Arthur F. Benner, all of Rochester; several grandchildren, step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandson.

She was the mother of the late Edward A. Leddy and James D. Leddy, and sister of the late Alice Billington Arendt, Rachel Houle, Ethel Boucher and Herbert E. Foisy.

Her Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, October 4th at 1:30 PM in Center Cemetery, Rochester.
