Gertrude M. (Perry) Briggs, 92, of Westport died Monday, February 1, 2010 at home after a long illness. She was wife of the late Clarence C. Briggs.
Born in Westport, daughter of the late John H. and Mary (Sisson) Perry, she was a lifelong resident of Westport. Prior to retirement, she had worked for Eldredge Seafood Plant in New Bedford, Dartmouth Town Hall and as a home health aide. Mrs. Briggs was a member of the Paskamansett Bird Club, Dartmouth, the Audubon Society and the Westport Womens Club.
Survivors include 2 daughters: Janice S. Tripp of S. Dartmouth and Ruth S. Oliveira of Westport; 2 sisters: Elizabeth Luce of Martha’s Vineyard and Phyllis E. Briggs of Westport; 5 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 9 great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was sister of the late Henry Perry, Alden Perry, Sanford Perry, Marjorie Kirby, Ruth Waite and Sarah Tripp.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
