David C. Carmody, 60, resident of Londonderry, died Saturday January 30, 2010 at his home after a nine year battle with lupus. Born March 30, 1949 in Lynn, MA to the late Albert T. and Ethel (Dupuis) Carmody. Mr. Carmody was a special education teacher for the Derry/Londonderry School systems, retiring in 2002.
David ran and completed the Boston Marathon three times, loved music and playing his Martin guitar. He wrote and published his own record album entitled "Without You". Mr. Carmody was an avid sports enthusiast who loved coaching the cross country team during his teaching years and supporting the Red Sox and Bruins. David's passions included gardening, harvesting maple syrup and his keen sense to comfort someone and show encouragement to those who needed it through positive conversation.
Above all of Mr. Carmody's past -times and interests came his most special moments, the time spent with his loving family. He leaves his devoted wife of 34 and a half years, Rhonda (Rideout) Carmody, along with their cherished children, Adam Carmody and his wife Jodi of Manchester, Derek Carmody and his fiancé' Kaitlin Kellogg of Concord and Jill Carmody of Londonderry. He also leaves his siblings, Tom Carmody of Peabody, MA, Joseph Carmody of Northwood, NH and Marie-Ann Gass of Indiana. Mr. Carmody leaves as well, his four grandchildren, Jillyan Moulton, Emme Carmody, Preston Carmody, Jack David Carmody and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours were held on Wednesday, February 3rd from 5-8pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 290 Mammoth Rd., Londonderry. Funeral services were held Thursday at 10am in the funeral home. The burial followed in the Holy Cross Cemetery, Londonderry.
