Obituary

John A. D’Agata, 63, of Salem, NH passed away at home surrounded by family and friends on Sun., Jan. 31st.

John was born in Lawrence, MA, the son of John D’Agata and the late Adeline M. D’Agata. He graduated from Haverhill Trade School in 1964. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy. A Vietnam veteran, John served on the U.S.S. Kittyhawk and was a member of Attack Squadron Thirty Five. He earned the National Defense Service Medal, Presidential Unit Citation, Vietnam Service Medal and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with device. John was honorably discharged in 1969.

He was a Master Plumber and member of Locals 283, 138 and 12. John was recently honored with a forty-year membership certificate from the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry of the United States and Canada. He was the General Foreman for Francis H. Maroney, Inc. and Perini Building Co., outside contractors, at Lucent Technologies for 25 years.
John was a member of Salem VFW Post # 8546, a member of the Sons of Italy and an attendant of Mary Queen of Peace Church.

John enjoyed motorcycling, boating, body surfing and deep-sea fishing with his son. He freely gave of himself to family, friends and neighbors, always willing to assist those in need. He was devoted and dedicated to his family. John was predeceased by his son John, Jr.

John leaves his childhood sweetheart and beloved wife of 43 years, Donna Mae (Iannini) D’Agata, loving father John D’Agata of Lawrence, MA, dearly loved son John D. D’Agata and his wife Melanie of Gilford, NH, adored daughters Dawn M. D’Agata of Salem, NH and Shauna D. D’Agata wife of Jack Woodruff of Winterport, ME. Cherished grandsons Michael Woodruff, Alex Woodruff and Joseph D’Agata and darling granddaughter Madeline D’Agata, devoted sister, Rosalie, wife of Joseph Marino of Hutchinson Island, FL. He is also survived by a nephew, nieces, and cousins.

Memorial Visitation will be Wed. Feb. 3rd from 4-8PM at the Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St., Salem, NH. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thurs. at 10:30 AM at Mary Queen of Peace Church, Salem, NH.
