Obituary

Albert E. "Tugboat" MORRILL, 83, died Saturday at Hebert’s Nursing Home. He was the husband of Irene (Martin) Morrill.

Born in Ashland, New Hampshire, he was a son of the late Albert E. and Alice (Hamel) Morrill, he lived in Smithfield for 45 years.

Mr. Morrill was a longshoreman for the Providence Steamboat Company until retiring. He was an Army veteran of WW II and also served in the Merchant Marines. He was a member of the Smithfield Elks B.P.O.E. 2359, Greystone Social Club and the Eagles Aerie 4270 in FL. Albert enjoyed fishing, boating and spending time with his family.

He is also survived by his children, Constance De Souza of Greenville, Robert Morrill of Albany, NY, Richard Morrill of Rochester, NY and Linda Wheelden of MA; 10 grandchildren, (Jeff, Matt and Nick Maione, Michael DeSouza, Robert, Sara and Jeffrey Morrill, Susan and Mark Eggert and Katherine Wheelden) 8 great-grandchildren, ( Ethan, Camden, Zoe, and Zack Maione, Irie Askew, Mark Pulluch, Michelle and Matthew Anderson ) a brother, Lawrence Morrill of Cranston. He was the father of the late Elaine “Terry” Leonard and brother of the late Joseph Morrill.

His funeral will be held Wednesday at 9am from the ANDERSON-WINFIELD Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. Funeral Service and Burial with Military Honors at 10am will be in RI Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. Visitation Tuesday 4-7pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Home & Hospice Care of RI, 1085 North Main Street, Providence, RI 02904.
