WORCESTER-Edward J. Harrington, 88, of Worcester, died Thursday, January 28th in the Holy Trinity Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. His wife, Nancy (Lavallee) Harrington died in 1982. He leaves two sons, James E. Harrington and his wife Joanne of Worcester and John F. Harrington and his wife Joyce of Sun Prairie, WI; his daughter, Teresa A. Pratt and her husband Robert of Shrewsbury; and six grandchildren. His brother, John C. Harrington, predeceased him.
Mr. Harrington was born in Worcester, the son of John C. and Catherine (Ferguson) Harrington. He was a 1943 graduate of the College of the Holy Cross and earned his Master’s Degree from Worcester State College. Mr. Harrington was a teacher in the Worcester Public School System, retiring as principal of the Downing Street School. He was a WWII U.S. Army-Air Force veteran. Mr. Harrington was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Church, the Massachusetts Teachers Association, the National Teachers Association, the American Legion Post #341 and the Holy Cross Alumni Sodality of Our Lady.
The funeral is Saturday, January 30th from O'CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a Mass at 11:30 AM in Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main Street. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery. Calling hours are Friday, January 29th from 4:00 until 7:00 PM in the funeral home.
