Obituary

CRABTREE, TIM, 75, of Louisville, passed away on Saturday, January 23, 2010.

He was a pastor for 35 years, a retired employee of Hillerich & Bradsby. Tim loved Portland, where he grew up, and returned there to be active in the community. He wrote regular monthly articles for the Portland Anchor, was a member of the Portland Now organization and was active in the yearly organization of the Portland Festival.

He worked on the original construction of the Wayside Christian Mission and was a member of the "Love Squad" there. Tim participated in Motorcycles for Jesus events, Toys for Tots, was a member of the Louisville Police Auxiliary, member of "Friends of Marines Hospital", member and active volunteer of the American Family Association of KY., an avid bowler and member of the U.S. Bowling Congress; and an active member of the Portland Avenue Church of Christ where he recently married his wife, Henrietta.

He was preceded in death by his wife and the mother of his children, Rosalyn Lois Crabtree; his son, Larry Crabtree; and brothers, Buster and John Crabtree.

Survivors include his wife Henrietta Kaelin Crabtree; his children, David Crabtree Jr. (Ruthie), Susan Welch (Leon), Theresa Foil (Kreg), Danny Crabtree, Diana Watts (Kyle), Gary Crabtree (Linda) and Shannon Barley (Curt); 15 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; his brothers, Robert W. Crabtree and Charles Giles Crabtree; his sister, Marjane Frech; eight stepchildren; 15 stepgrandchildren; and 11 stepgreat-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Hwy., with burial in Bethany Cemetery. Visitation will be 11 a.m.- 9 p.m. Tuesday and after 10 a.m. Wednesday.
