Barbara J. Mainville, 87, of Derry, NH, died Thursday, January 21, 2010 in the Pleasant Valley Nursing Center, Derry following a lengthy illness. Mrs. Mainville was born in Rumney, NH on August 3, 1922, daughter of the late Karl W. and Elgie (Plant) Jackson. She was raised in Campton, NH and graduated from Plymouth, NH high school. Barbara married Napoleon L. Mainville in Upton, MA on June 12, 1943. They moved to Hopedale, MA where she worked as a bookkeeper for their concrete foundation business. Following their retirement, they moved back to her roots in Campton where she was a longtime resident. Barbara was a sociable, friendly person who was always willing to lend her help. She enjoyed golfing, bowling, fishing, camping and traveling.
She is survived by her sister, Theo Norma O'Brien of Derry and also by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Napoleon L. Mainville in 1997, a sister, Stella J. Wallace and a brother, Karl W. Jackson, Jr..
A private family gathering will be held in the summer at the family's convenience. The Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch Street, Derry, NH are in charge of the arrangements.
