Obituary

Mr. Joseph Bartel, of Taunton, died Sunday, January 24 at the home of his son following a period of failing health. He was the husband of the late Sandra (Stigliano) Bartel. He was born 81 years ago in Taunton, the son of the late Manuel and Julia Bartel. He was educated in Taunton and was a lifelong city resident. Prior to his retirement, he had been employed as a silver polisher for the former F.B. Rogers Silver Company in Taunton for 30 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War,having served two tours and was a recipient of the Combat Infantry Badge and the
Korean Service Medal with 2 Bronze Stars. Hen enjoyed watching sports, socializing with his friends and spending time with his family.
He leaves:
3 sons: Joseph T. Bartel of Acushnet
Dennis M. Bartel and his wife, Cathy of Taunton
Paul R. Bartel of Taunton
1 daughter: Cheryl A. Brown of Florida
2 brothers: Daniel and Richard Bartel
1 sister: Dorothy McGuiness
10 grandchildren: Layne, Cullan, Cierra, Amanda, Brian, Alyssa and Ryan Bartel,
Joshua James, Christopher and David Winter
4 great grandchildren: Caiden, Connor, Brynna and Madison
several nieces and nephews
Mr. Bartel was also the grandfather of the late Amie Martin.
A Funeral Service will be held at The Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home, 467 Bay Street, on Saturday, January 30 at 1:00 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Interment will be private. Visiting Hours will be held on Friday, from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M.
