Obituary

Mr. Lawrence J. Burns, Jr., a resident of Medford for the past 6 years and former resident of Somerville, died at the Mt. Auburn Hospital in Cambridge on Monday evening, January 25, 2010. Mr. Burns was the beloved husband of 54 years of Kathryn R. (King) Burns. He was 74 years old.
Born in Boston on July 16, 1935, he was the beloved son of the late Lawrence J. Burns, Sr. and Mary C. (Leary) Burns. Lawrence was a 32 year veteran of the military, serving in the National Guard and the Army Special Forces Unit. While in the military he earned the rank of Major.
In civilian life, Mr. Burns worked as a Developer for many years.
Besides his beloved wife, Kathryn, he will be sorely missed by his son and daughter-in-law; Brian and his wife Tammy Burns of Quincy, grandchildren; Valerie Burns of Medford and James Burns of Quincy, great-grandson; Jayden Romulus of Medford, sisters and brothers-in-law; Claire and her husband Mike Ellis of S.C. and Patricia and her husband Charles Burgess of FL.
His funeral was held from the Beals-Geake-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 29 Governors Avenue, Medford, Friday, January 29, 2010, at 9 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 118 High Street, Medford, at 10 AM.
