WASHINGTON…James L. Ratton, 72, of Washington, passed away at 9:37 p.m., Thursday, January 14, 2010 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center.
James was born on February 9, 1937 in Little Rock, Arkansas to Marion and Pauline Perkins Ratton. He married Betty A. Johnson on December 20, 1956 in Forrest City, Arkansas. Betty survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Jim (Julie) Ratton of Roanoke, John (Robin) Ratton of Amity, Arkansas and Jerry (Carol) Ratton of Sunnyland; two brothers, Marvin (Pearl) Ratton of Huntsville, Alabama and Steve (Debbie) Ratton of Tampa, Florida and seven grandchildren. James was preceded in death by one daughter, Joyce Noret; one granddaughter, Heather; four brothers, Earnest, Marion, Hubert and Tommy and one sister, Dorothy.
For more than 41 years James worked for Champion Furnace as a sheet metal worker. He also had worked for Formaloy Corporation in Morton and for many years installed residential furnaces and air conditioning.
James was a member of Sheet Workers International Local #202 of Peoria.
He also was a member of Harvard Hills Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 19th at 10 a.m. at the Mason-White Funeral Home in Washington with Pastor Dennis Ripley officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memory Gardens, south of Washington. Visitation will be on Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. and one hour prior to services on Tuesday.
