Sofie M. (Ley) Simpson 85, of Franklin, died Sunday January 24, 2010 at home, followed by a long illness. She was the wife of William J. Simpson.
Born in Maulach, Germany, September 15, 1924 a daughter of the late Gottlob and Pauline (Wirth) Ley, she lived in Germany for many years before coming to the United States in 1958.
Educated in Germany, she was a retired homemaker, and enjoyed knitting, gardening and spending time with her family.
In addition to her husband of 55 years, she is survived by two sons Karl W. Simpson and his wife Maureen of Franklin and Mark J. Simpson and his wife Wendy of Cambridge, a brother Gottlob Ley and a sister Helen both of Germany. Also surviving are her grandchildren Rebecca and Erik Simpson and several nieces and nephews.
Her funeral service and interment will be held privately.
